Pilot
General description:
The Pilot acts as marine advisers for export tanker Masters as per Port regulation and Company procedures. They are responsible for the availability and operability of the naval means on site
Safety
- In charge of tanker inspection on arrival for safety related matters: check for any non compliance of tanker equipment or crew, safety notices, emergency plans, emergency shutdown procedures.
- Control that tanker procedures complies with Company HSE policy
- Check for spills and releases, assists in stopping a leak and during emergency situations
Security
- Act as ISPS representative on board the export tanker on behalf of the marine operation manager
Export tanker handling:
- Is responsible for the tanker movements on site: arrival, mooring , loading, unmooring, departure, emergency response
- Uses available naval means for tanker movement as per Company procedures and port regulation
- In charge of naval means follow up on site as per Company procedures: tugs, work boats
- Review export tanker handling procedures and emergency response on a regular basis
- In charge of mooring team management
- Ensure maintenance of SPM buoy, mooring equipment and floating hoses with berthing crew
- Prepare and monitor the good execution of the berthing procedures
- Co-ordinates crew activities at the bow and on deck of the tanker
- Supervises hoses connection /disconnection
- Is in charge of mooring, connecting and lifting operations
- Handle material and equipment transfers
Terminal representative for the Company for any safety or commercial matters on behalf of the Marine Supervisor on board the export tanker:
- Endorse all loading documents and all other commercial documentations.
- In charge of tanker inspection on arrival for safety related matters: check for any non compliance of tanker equipment or crew , safety notices, emergency plans, emergency shutdown procedures, etc
- Control that tanker procedures complies with Company HSE policy
- Fill ISGOTT check lists as instructed through port regulation
- Follow up of cargo handling: inspection with cargo surveyors, loading plan, loading operations and communications at cargo control room and on deck
- Draw up commercial documents on board the tanker (sign on behalf of Company as Terminal representative)
- Draw up “brief call reports” for Company
- Initiate and draw up “letter of protest” when needed
Context and environment
- Rotation status and Position Offshore.
Qualification and Back-ground
- Master Mariner deep sea going ship or equivalent
- A minimum of 10 years on deep sea going ships or offshore petroleum vessel with 3 years as chief mate on board petroleum tankers including a minimum of one year experience as master.
