Marine supervisor
General description:
He manages hull and export systems in compliance with normal operating practice for tanker hulls and Block XVII lifting agreement. He acts as superintendent for loading posts and FPSO related marine activities such as spill response, abandon facilities and navigation aids. He organizes with operators the different tasks related to crude oil handling under the supervision the production superintendent.
He assists HSE, production, maintenance and inspection teams when requested for typical marine related activities for FPSO.
He is the marine adviser for the OIM/RSES on board.
He manage Offloading Operations with the Trading and local Authorities
He Acts as focus communication point with the Trading
- Is responsible for transfer operations of crude oil and ballasting / de-ballasting operation / inert gas

- Manages ballast transfers, stability of FPSO, checks mooring loads
- The Loading Master and Pumpman and assistant Pumpman, assist the Marine Supervisor
- Report to Production Superintendent
Management of FPSO hull
- Hull stresses and stability control, ballast, storage and slop tanks management planning and monitoring (levels, alarms, gas detection,…)
- Coordination for Crude and ballast tank preparation and follow up for maintenance and inspection activities
- Assistance for inert gas and gas freeing operation when required
- In charge of follow-up of storage, export and ballast piping integrity and pumping means (cargo pumps, hydraulic units):initiate leak tests, draw up reports , ensure that proper maintenance and inspection are carried on these items, assist production, maintenance and inspection team when requested
- In charge of crude oil washing plans for sediment deposit control
- In charge of slop management: divert fluid flow as needed (storage tank settling,…), monitor for proper operating levels, shutdown for maintenance as required
- Follow up of slop water discharge and bilge water discharge (filling of oil record books as appropriate)
- Follow up of potable water and Diesel oil quantities on board and supply
- In charge of establish all loading documents (Bill of Lading, quality, quantity)
Assistance for FPSO marine operations and HSE management relative to marine activities
- Responsible for loading post management and integrity in coordination with maintenance and inspection teams (SPM, tandem and ancillaries such as winches, bollards, capstans…)
- Follow up of safety control systems related to export operations: communications, SPM telemetry, emergency shutdown (tests, etc), QCDC, hawser release, load cell…
- Follow up of classification certificate for abandon facilities
- Follow up of spill response on board the FPSO
- Follow up of navigation aids on board the FPSO: GMDSS equipment, gyro compass, weather aids, radar, ARPA, warning lights and signals
- Follow up of FPSO and SPM anchoring loads
Context and environment
- Rotation status and Position Offshore on board FPSO.
Qualification and Back-ground
- Master Mariner deep sea going ship or equivalent
- A minimum of 10 years on deep sea going ships or offshore petroleum vessel with 3 years as chief mate on board petroleum tankers including a minimum of one year experience as master.
